3/06/2014 - Blinn Eliminates Lady Roadrunners; AC Shooting Woes Lead to Loss
TYLER – Angelina College’s Lady Roadrunners ended their season on Wednesday with an 83-69 loss to Blinn College at the Region XIV tournament’s opening round at the University of Tyler.
Shooting struggles were the biggest culprit for the Lady ‘Runners, who hit 19 of 55 shot attempts, with the best of those numbers coming in a seven-minute stretch in which AC rallied from 15 down to cut the Lady Bucs’ lead to six points with just over five minutes to play. However, the rims went back to their uncooperative nature from the first 35 minutes, and the Lady Bucs moved on to the next round.
Fatima Adams led Blinn with 23 points and nine rebounds; Katrina Hayden added 18 points, and Shunta Nevitt 12 points.
AC’s Eliqua Brooks closed out her career with 25 points; Jimelliah Price added 12 and Yosha Watson 11 in the loss.
Wednesday marked the final games for AC sophomores Brooks, Price, Watson, Jessiah Johnson, Sydnee Jackson and Cekret Davis.
AC’s ladies end the season with a 12-17 record.
