Micah Shaffer, a sophomore from Huntington, received the first Charles
P. Stephens Memorial Scholarship at Showtime 2004. Kurt Stephens, son of the late Charles Stephens, presented the scholarship for the Stephens family.
Shaffer has been a member of the AC Singers for two years and performed
in the 2003 and 2004 Showtime musical reviews. At AC he is vice president of AChord and has sung with the Texas Two-Year College
All-State Choir for two years. In high school, he was a cheerleader and
member of the band.
In addition to Shaffer, Showtime 2004 featured AC Singers: Kennedy Campbell of Lufkin, Jennifer Conn of Lufkin, Amanda Forrest of
Huntington, Jessica Korn of Huntington, Forrest Layton of Homer, Brian
Parrott of Houston, Stephanie Shelton of Huntington and Lindsey Williams of Huntington. Beckie Compton directed
the Singers, and Stacy Dicks choreographed their performances.
Guest performers for Showtime included members of the AC Chorale, Susan
Martin, Johnnie Smith and Eric Brevard.
As a tribute to the late Charles Stephens who directed the AC Singers for 20 years, proceeds from Showtime 2004 ticket sales went to the
Stephens Scholarship Endowment Fund.
Twelve AC Singer alumni performed
at Showtime 2004 including: Andra Allen McLarty (1983-84), Kristie Thompson Matteson (1985-87), Kari Boyd Standley (1985-87), Dayna Pitts
Burch (1986-88), Teresa Bryan Ragland (1989-91), Matt Haas (1992-95), Belisa Steward Haas (1992-95), Darla Bonner (1993-96), Steven Phillips
(1996-98), Jana Thomas Phillips (1995-98), Kristi Lewing Smith (1998-00), and Sam Eppley (1998-00, 1902-03).
Susan Koon (1988-02) choreographed the alumni numbers for Showtime 2004.
