Business Office Earns Top Honors


The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recently awarded Angelina College the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). This award is the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting. Angelina College has earned this honor every year for the last seven year. Less than one percent of entities qualify for this award nationally, and only a handful in the East Texas region.

The association also awarded the Angelina College business office the Award of Financial Reporting Achievement for preparing the award-winning annual report. According to the GFOA’s news release, AC’s financial report was found to meet the organization’s high standards, including demonstrating a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential user groups to read the CAFR.

Chris Sullivan, vice president of Business Affairs, said, “We are extremely proud of our staff’s efforts. This is an exceptional team and they’ve worked hard to earn this honor.”
