Summer Camps for Kids


Camp Information

Register for camps by printing and completing the registration forms on this page. Forms are also available at the Community Services building in Lufkin and at the centers in Crockett, Jasper, and Livingston. Parents must register their children in person at one of those locations.

Dozer Camp – Lufkin 

Ever dreamed of running a bulldozer? Want to see one up close and personal? Then this four-day camp is for you! You will learn all about dozers, see one in person, and even practice driving one using a simulator. Safety is vital when working with heavy equipment, so we will focus on safety throughout the camp. This camp will be offered twice in June, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-noon.  Start dates are June 4 and June 11. The cost of the camp is $20, and includes supplies and a camp t-shirt. Students should bring a healthy snack. For optional Early Drop Off or Supervised Lunch, see the Camp Extras section below. Dozer camp is offered at reduced cost through a grant from Texas Mutual Insurance Company to teach safety to the general public. This camp is open to middle school and high school students, ages 11-18. REGISTRATION FORM

Music, Yoga, Crafts & Reading – Crockett         

This camp is for the little ones. This four-day camp is offered at the Crockett Center, July 9-12, 9:00 a.m.-noon.  We’ll be movin’ and groovin’ with kids’ yoga and learning why a lot of yoga poses are named after animals. We’ll do some fun art projects, such as learning how to draw things far away…that LOOK like they’re far away!  We’ll also explore a few really good books.  Camp fee includes all supplies and a camp t-shirt. The cost of the camp is $40. On the final day, campers will show off their artwork will be invited to attend a kids’ carnival from 12:00-2:00 p.m.  This camp is for students who are 6-10 years old. Safe Sitter – Lufkin and Crockett

This four-day camp prepares young people to be safe babysitters in unsupervised settings. In a fun, interactive environment, students will learn skills needed to respond appropriately to medical emergencies and will learn beginning employment skills as well.  Camps will be offered in Lufkin and Crockett. Students should also bring a healthy snack and a sack lunch. Lufkin campers may bring $3 per day for lunch in the cafeteria instead of a sack lunch. Students in this camp will be escorted to and from the cafeteria and do not need to be registered separately for a supervised lunch. The $30 fee includes all supplies and a camp t-shirt. Safe Sitter camp is offered through reduced cost through a grant from Texas Mutual Insurance Company to teach safety to the general public. This camp is for students who are 8-18 years old. This course is offered June  18-21, June 25-28, July 9-12, July 16-19, and July 30-Aug. 2.  REGISTRATION FORM

Sewing Camp – Lufkin                                                      

Learn to sew this summer! In this two-week camp, students will complete at least one project, such as a top with matching pants or shorts or a simple dress with a zipper. The camp will be held Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-noon. Students should bring their own sewing machine and a healthy snack. The $60 registration fee includes all other supplies and a camp t-shirt. Start dates are June 11 and July 16. This camp is for students who are 11-18 years old. REGISTRATION FORM

Sewing Camp – Crockett                            

This four-day camp is offered at the Crockett Center, July 16-19, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-noon. In Sewing Camp, students will learn a different craft each day. No sewing machine is required. The fee for the camp is $40 and includes all supplies and a camp t-shirt. This camp is for students who are 11-18 years old. REGISTRATION FORM

Shooting Skills for Fun & Safety – Lufkin and Crockett

Learn new shooting skills and improve old skills in a safe environment. This one-day camp is taught by an instructor in the Angelina College Police Academy. Camps will be offered in Lufkin and Crockett. See schedule for dates. Bring your Airsoft gun and safety glasses for a day of learning and fun! Students should also bring a healthy snack and a sack lunch. Lufkin campers may bring $3 per day for lunch in the cafeteria instead of a sack lunch. Students in this camp will be escorted to and from the cafeteria and do not need to be registered separately for a supervised lunch.  The camp fee is $10. Shooting Skills for Fun & Safety is offered at reduced cost through a grant from Texas Mutual Insurance Company to teach safety to the general public. Theatre & Film Camp – Lufkin                            

Andrew Reed, theatre instructor, and Reg Reynolds, graphic arts instructor, will host a summer theatre and film camp, June 13-19.  Students will learn acting for camera and film production as well as voice, movement, and other acting techniques.  The camp will be held Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Monday, and Tuesday, 1-5 p.m., and the cost is $100.  The camp is open to middle school and high school students, ages 14-19. Extra Sessions (Lufkin only)

We provide an Early Drop Off and Late Pick Up program for the convenience of parents whose children are registered for summer camps.  Campers will be shown a G-rated movie during this time and will be provided with a staff escort.  It is necessary for parents to register their children for these sessions just as they would register for a camp.

Parents may also register for Supervised Lunch for their campers enrolled in half-day camps.  It is necessary for parents to register their students for this program just as they would register for a camp.  Lunch is not included with the cost of registration.  Students should bring a sack lunch or $3 per day if they wish to buy lunch in the cafeteria. Students in full-day camps (Safe Sitter and Shooting Skills) do not need to register for the supervised lunch hour, but they should bring a sack lunch or $3 per day if they wish to purchase lunch.

Registration forms for Early Drop Off, Late Pick Up, and Supervised Lunch are available in the Community Services building in Lufkin and at the teaching centers in Crockett, Jasper, and Livingston.
