MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION I

The student will learn the fundamentals of medical transcription with hands-on experience in transcribing actual physician dictation including reports such as history and physicals, discharge summaries, consultations, operative reports, and other medical reports.  The class utilizes transcribing  and information processing equipment compatible with industry standards and is designed to develop speed and accuracy.  Suggested prerequisites: English, Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Word Processing (may be taken concurrently).  Class size is limited to 12 students.  Textbook(s) must be purchased and will be used throughout the program.
