Angelina College provides Private Security Officer Training
throughout the Deep East Texas region

Classes are scheduled each semester.
Classes can also be created when needed for groups.

Private Security Officer - Level II Training
also known as Non-Commissioned Private Security Officer
8-hour course – Tuition is $80.00
This course is required to work as a Private Security Officer in Texas. It will prepare individuals with little or no experience in private security with the basic principles needed to work as an unarmed security officer. Requirements to attend training and be licensed as a Private Security Officer – Level II include:
-be 18 yrs. or older
- not have any class A misdemeanor convictions within the last 10-years
- not have any Class B Misdemeanor convictions within the last 5-years
- not have any Felony convictions within the last 20-years
- not be required to register as a sex offender
- not have been declared to be mentally incompetent
- if served in military must not have been dishonorably discharged
Supplies needed to attend Private Security Officer- Level II Training include a pen and paper.

Private Security Officer - Level III Training
also known as Commissioned Private Security Officer
40-hour course – Tuition is $200.00, Range fee is $12
This course will prepare individuals to work as an armed security officer in the State of Texas. Level-III training includes both classroom and firearms training. Students must provide their own firearms, ammunition, and protective equipment. Requirements to attend training and be licensed as a Private Security Officer – Level III include:
-be 18 yrs. or older
- not have any class A misdemeanor convictions within the last 10-years
- not have any Class B Misdemeanor convictions within the last 5-years
- not have any Felony convictions within the last 20-years
- not be required to register as a sex offender
- not have been declared to be mentally incompetent
- if served in military must not have been dishonorably discharged

Supplies needed to attend Private Security Officer- Level III Training include:
- pen and paper
- handgun (pistol or revolver of approved duty caliber)
- 50-rounds handgun ammunition
- 12 gauge shotgun
- 9 9-pellet “00” buckshot
- eye and ear protection

Private Security Officer Level III Requalification
6-hour course – Tuition is $80, Range fee is $12
This course provides the continuing education training and firearms qualification that Private Security Officer Level-III are required to complete every 2-years to renew private security officer licenses. The training includes both classroom and firearms range qualification. Students must provide their own firearm of an approved caliber, ammunition, and protective equipment.

Private Security Officer - Level IV Training
also known as Personal Protection Officer
16-hour course – Tuition is $160.00
This course will prepare individuals to work as a Personal Protection Officer in the State of Texas. Training includes defensive tactics, baton and OC-Spray training.

ASP Expandable Baton Training
8-hour course – Tuition is $80
This course provides the TCLEOSE training required for Private Security Officer Level-III officers to carry the ASP expandable baton while on-duty. Students should dress for physical activity and bring a pen, paper, and water to the class.

OC-Spray Training
8-hour course – Tuition is $50
This course provides the TCLEOSE training required for Private Security Officer Level-III officers to carry OC-Spray while on-duty. This class includes exposure to OC. Students should dress for physical activity, bring a roll of paper towels, a bottle of baby shampoo, a change of clothes, and a pen and paper to the class.
