Jasper Higher Education and Technology Center
Angelina College’s center in Jasper provides opportunities for students to earn associate degrees in their community. The center offers General Education transfer courses in a traditional format, along with selected courses presented through video conferencing. Enrollment, advisement, and payment procedures can be completed on site.
The center has recently added a new Technology building which houses a welding lab and other skills courses.
The Jasper Center also offers a Vocational Nursing Certification. AC LVN instructors in Lufkin, Jasper, and Crockett collaborate together to present the information through video conferencing, which allows instructors to focus on their area of expertise. The clinical portion is completed in the local health care facilities in the individual communities.
Community Services courses, providing classes for numerous state and national certifications and for various skills enhancements, are scheduled throughout the year.
The Jasper Center contains an abbreviated library on site, but opportunities to obtain books from the Lufkin campus are available. The Jasper Center has a small collection of physical books, but students and instructors have access to the main campus library collection through a courier service that runs to the center twice per week. All students and faculty also have access to the entire collection of library databases and online e-books. Upon request, the librarians provide both face-to-face and distance instruction.
