ASSOCIATE DEGREE
NURSING PROGRAM
Upon successful completion of two calendar years of study,
students receive the Associate of Applied Science degree and are eligible to apply for
registered nurse licensure by examination.
Students may choose the vocational nursing option by
completing the first year of the associate degree nursing program plus two optional summer
courses in preparation for vocational nurse licensure by examination. These students
receive a certificate of completion from Angelina College.
Accreditation:
The Associate Degree Nursing program is accredited by the
Board of Nurses for the State of Texas (BON).

Information Sessions and Deadlines for Class Selection, 2008
Information Sessions will all be held from 6:00-7:00
in Health Careers I, Room 110
All of these dates are on Monday nights.

June 30, 2008 is the Deadline for submitting
applications
Notification of selected class will be done on or
around July 25, 2008
Any student wishing to accept their position in the
program must be available for Orientation on August 28-29, 2008.
Dosage
Calculations Exam:

January 11, 2008 (Friday) 9:00-11:30

May 13, 2008 (Tuesday) 9:00-11:30

July 15, 2008 (Tuesday) 9:00-11:30 (last dosage
calculations test for RN Program)
- Admission Criteria:
- Gain admission to the college.
- Pass all sections of the THEA test or be TSI complete.
- If THEA exempt you must take Accuplacer.
- You must attend a mandatory information session to receive a nursing program application. Proof of the being TSI complete is required to attend a session.
- Submit completed application packet by the
published deadline. Applications will not be accepted after this date.
- Pass the dosage calculations test (90% or better) by
last posted test dates.
- Complete all prerequisite courses with a
grade of "C" or better by end of first
summer session,
prior to beginning the program. (PSYC 2301, BIOL 2401, RNSG 1208, ENGL 1301, & BIOL
2402)
Acceptance into the program is limited and is
based on:

Cumulative GPA in all prerequisite courses.
Applicants with hisghest GPAs from 4.0 to 3.0 are accepted first.

Dosage calculation

Completion of all admission requirements by the designated
deadlines.

Applicant will be notified
of acceptance by Internet web site. Full acceptance is based on clear background check and
negative drug screen.

Have updated American
Heart Association CPR card. Must be current and updated to remain in
nursing program.

Complete all immunizations
by application deadline. Hepatitis B immunizations require six months
and must be completed by first day of clinical schedule.
-
TB test must be updated each year to remain in the
program.
-
Must be available for NET
test and purchase of uniforms prior to the first
class day. -
Drug test must be negative
and background check clear to be fully accepted in the AC Nursing
program.

Students rotate through a variety of health care
settings. Rotations may include:
- Woodland Heights Medical Center
- Memorial Medical Center of ET
- Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital
- Nacogdoches Medical Center
- Rusk State Hospital
- Memorial Hospital System - Livingston
Students will also use clinics, nursing homes, physician
offices and other agencies as appropriate.
