Angelina College will host “Robbie Lacomb: A Retrospective,” Oct. 2-30. An opening reception is planned for Oct. 2 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Angelina Center for the Arts Gallery on the Angelina College campus. The event is free and open to the community.
Lacomb will be exhibiting artworks from the past 30 years of her career, including etchings, woodcuts, book arts, and photographs.
“Reflecting on my career, it has become apparent to me that while I have learned, changed and grown with experience, some things have remained constant. My love of nature, the joys of sharing life with others, and the hunger for learning have all continued to reveal true beauty to me, beauty that I commune with through my art,” she said.
Lacomb has worked as a teacher and artist since 1978 and recently retired from Angelina College after serving as an art instructor and gallery curator for 25 years.
While Lacomb has shown her work in countries such as Morocco, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Russia, she has also held exhibitions throughout the United States. She has been distinguished in education with various awards for teaching excellence. Lacomb received the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award and was twice named the Minnie Stevens Piper Professor Nominee for Angelina College.
