With Jacksonville’s Lady Jaguars breathing down their necks, the Angelina College Lady Roadrunners needed a couple of big plays down the stretch during Tuesday’s game in Jacksonville.
Sandy Rawls blocked a shot and followed it with a bucket down the floor with 1:59 to play, and Ceidra Coleman beat the shot clock with an off-balance jumper to help lift the Lady ‘Runners to a 69-62 win.
Coleman finished with 19 points to lead the Lady Roadrunners, now 15-7, 7-5 on the season. Rawls’ double-double included 15 points and 18 rebounds; and Malachi McQueen added 15 points in the win.
Jacksonville’s Kristina Smith hit four three-pointers in leading the Lady Jags (9-10, 3-8) with 15 points. Jamie Lamb rounded out the double-figure scoring with 11 points.
AC’s ladies will host San Jacinto at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
