How do I obtain a library card?
The identification (ID) card you received at registration acts as
your library card. Each semester during registration this ID card
is updated with a sticker. If you register by phone please remember to
have this validation sticker placed on the back of your card. You are
responsible for all material borrowed on your card. If your ID card is
lost or stolen report it and purchase a new card. Your ID must be
presented to check out material or use the library computers!
What is the procedure for checking out material?
Bring the items you wish to check out and your ID card to the main
(first floor) circulation desk.
If your fine record is clear and you have no overdue items, the
materials will be checked out to you. A date due slip attached to the
item will indicate when to return the material.
- How many items may I check out?
Books from the main circulating collection: 5 books total
Reserve items: Number varies, please inquire
How long is the loan period?
Books from the main circulating collection: 3 weeks
Reserve items: Time varies (could be Library Use Only, Overnight, 3
day or 7 day)
Reference books, periodicals and instructional videos must be used
in-house by students and do not circulate outside the library . Permission
to circulate may be granted for use in class presentations.
Can I renew items?
When you wish to renew material you should bring it to the main
circulation desk and inquire about renewal. Most items from the general
circulating collection can be renewed unless a hold has been placed on
them. No renewals are made unless the item is brought to the library.
Renewals are not permitted on most reserve materials.
- Where do I return materials?
Books should be returned to the first floor circulation desk or
the library book drop located on the outer wall to the
left of the main library entrance. To prevent possible damage, please
return audio-visual materials inside.
- What are the fines for overdue materials?
Books from the main circulating collection: 10 cents per day
Reserve material: 50 cents per day
Borrowing privileges are suspended until fees and fines are cleared.
You will be charged the replacement cost of the item plus a $10.00
processing fee.

The library has two copy machines available. The charge is 10 cents
per copy. Change up to $10.00 is available at the circulation desk.

typewriter is available for use, but you must bring your own paper.
- Are there computers that I can use?
There are 25 research terminals, 4 catalog terminals and 4 e-mail
terminals in the library. You must present your student ID to use the
research or e-mail terminals. The research terminals provide access
to the Internet and provide links to the library’s electronic
databases. WordPerfect, Word and selected programs in the Microsoft
Office Suite are also available. Check with a staff member for more
information. The research and catalog terminals are not to be used
for e-mail, chats or games. Please become familiar with the computer
usage rules; copies of these are readily available.
- Can I print from the computers?
Documents are sent to the printer at the circulation desk. Be sure
that your document printed before closing your program. You are
responsible for all pages that you send to the printer. Black and white
printouts are 5 cents per page; color printouts are 25 cents per page.
If you wish to save documents to a disk you must bring your own with
you. Do not save to the hard drive. Please ask for assistance if
you aren't sure how to save a file or have questions about printing.
