PTK is a national junior college honorary scholastic society. Members are chosen through
election by the chapter and a faculty committee on a basis of scholarship, leadership and
character.
To be eligible for membership, a student must have completed a term or semester in a
junior college and have carried fifteen hours per week, twelve of which must be in the
arts and sciences; must have a 3.5 GPA; must be of good moral character and possess
recognized qualities of leadership; must be in the upper ten percent of the regularly
enrolled student body.
PTK is open to students in the technical and vocational programs as
well. Developmental classes do not count towards membership.

honored at reunion
PTK WINS THREE AWARDS
Upsilon Rho Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Angelina College received three awards at the Regional Honors and Awards Conference in Houston. PTK is the honor society for two-year institutions.
Angelina received a Chapter of Service Award at the conference for the chapter's service projects, a Service Hallmark Award for an essay about the Chapter's Service Projects written by Christina Perkins, and a 3-Star Chapter Award for the chapter's achievements during the past year.
Joe Ragan, director of the Liberal Arts Division at AC and the PTK adviser, accompanied PTK members Michael Fountain, Christina Perkins and Sherry Loving to the conference. Also attending were Susie Ragan and Eugene Loving.
There were 546 PTK students from two-year Texas colleges at the conference.
