4/2/2008 - Third-Place Roadrunners Hosting Second-Place Bossier Parish
A six-game winning streak has catapulted the Angelina College
Roadrunners into third place in Region XIV’s East Zone.
Now they get an opportunity to improve their standing even more.
Bossier Parish’s Cavaliers, at 8-4 a single game ahead of the 7-5
‘Runners, will travel to AC’s Roadrunner field for a key afternoon
doubleheader.
Most intriguing are the stats facing each team: BPCC’s pitching staff
has put up some of the best numbers in the conference, while the
Roadrunners boast a .329 team batting average. AC’s hitters have
reached double figures in hits in five straight games, and Ryan Kelley
and Keith Prestridge are tied for seventh among league leaders with
matching .429 averages. Matt Thielepape (.356), Austin Lasprilla
(.341) and Chris Andreas (.333) have also flirted with Top 25 status.
Bossier Parish pitchers, on the other hand, have allowed just 39 runs
in 12 games – second best in the conference.
AC enters today’s games having swept three straight series over
Panola, Northeast Texas and Lon Morris.
Frank Corolla gets the start in the opener, with Corey Benevides
slotted to take the mound in the nightcap.
Game time is noon. Listeners can pick up J.P. Heath’s play-by-play on
