4/23/2008 - Roadrunners Host Season Finale
While this afternoon’s doubleheader with Lon Morris will kick off with
a Sophomore Day observance, the Angelina College Roadrunner baseball
team isn’t quite ready to celebrate just yet.
Counting today’s two against the Bearcats, the Roadrunners have just
four games remaining on the regular-season schedule. And although AC
is currently tied for second with Bossier Parish at 16-8 in conference
play, the ‘Runners know a slip-up this late could, at the very least,
cost them valuable seeding in the upcoming Region XIV tournament.
Even more intriguing is the fact that after today’s games, the
season’s final games will take place on Saturday in Shreveport against
those same, pesky Cavaliers.
On the plus side, AC has swept both Lon Morris and Bossier Parish in
the season’s previous meetings. The Bearcats have suffered numerous
injuries and other mishaps on their way to a two-win season in the
Region XIV East Zone.
“We’re not about to look ahead of today’s games, as big as Saturday’s
might look right now,” AC head coach Jeff Livin said. “We just want to
focus on doing what we do to win games, no matter who we’re playing.”
Today’s scheduled starters are Frank Corolla and Trey Rackel. Game
time is noon, and listeners can catch J.P. Heath on the play-by-play
on ESPN 1260 AM, or log onto www.espn1260.net.
AC instructor Melvin Johnson will take the mike as Heath’s guest color
man in the nightcap.
