ANGELINA COLLEGE FINE ARTS PRESENTING “SYNESTHESIA: MERGING SIGHT AND
SOUND”
As a
tribute to Hispanic Heritage Month, Dr. Karen McBee, Fine Arts Division
director, and Robbie Roach, Art instructor will present “Synesthesia:
Merging Sight and Sound” Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Temple
Theater. Admission is free.
As McBee plays musical selections by renowned Argentine composer Alberto
Evaristo Ginastera, Roach will paint ten canvases – one for each song –
as she reacts through painting to what she is hearing. Throughout the
performance, several Business Speech students will speak of the composer
himself, and about the process Roach is utilizing with the paintings.
When the show
concludes, the audience will be allowed onstage to view Roach’s
completed works.
Those interested
in purchasing the canvases may do so at a silent auction that will begin
after the performance. The proceeds will go to scholarships for art
students.
The silent auction
will continue and the paintings will be displayed at the First Street
Art Gallery Oct. 3-11. A public reception is scheduled at the First
Street Art Gallery Oct. 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
