FINE ARTS PRESENTS KID-FRIENDLY VERSION OF “THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY
HOLLOW”
Just
in time for Halloween, AC Theater will present child-sized thrills and
chills, spooks and goblins in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by
Washington Irving, adapted for children’s theater by Kathryn Schultz
Miller. This version of the classic short story, according to AC Theater
Director Kary Raine, is designed to give a pleasant frisson to children
without terrifying them.
“This production uses the storybook style, in which some of the
characters double as storytellers and other actors stay in character and
act out the plot as outlined by the storytellers,” Raine said. “Young
children generally respond well to this style.” Raine also added that
the curtain will rise much earlier than is usual in order to accommodate
the children’s bedtime.
Appearing in the play are: Justin Foote of Tomball as Ichabod Crane;
Danyelle McClain of Lufkin as Katrina; Brent Whitley of Cleveland as
Brom Bones; Troy Hudson of Nacogdoches as Washington/Storyteller; José
A. Sandoval of Colonial Beach as Irving/Storyteller; Justin Walker of
Hudson as Peter/Storyteller; Anna Dover of Pineland as
Emily/Storyteller; Alicia Earls of Bay City as Charlotte; Sasha Cruz of
Crockett as Judith; and Cody Hall of Huntington as The Headless
Horseman. Stephanie Pennebaker of Lufkin is the Stage Manager.
This family-friendly production will run October 25, 26, and 27, 2007,
at the Temple Theater on the Angelina College campus. The curtain will
rise at 6:00 p.m. each performance.
Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $4.00 for seniors, students and
children.
