AC Still Unbeaten after Seven Games

Even the Angelina College Roadrunners know the first part of their schedule thus far hasn’t been anywhere near the toughest they’ll face this season.

So before Thursday’s game against a tough Hill College team, the players – without prompting from the coaching staff – gathered together and began chanting, “Respect.”

The ‘Runners then went out and beat the Rebels 78-64 in the opening day of the Navarro Classic in Corsicana to remain unbeaten at 7-0.

Mike Myers and Frank Snow each tallied 18 points for the Roadrunners. Snow’s totals were a season high for the 6’10” freshman whose biggest contributions before Thursday had come with his rebounding prowess.

“Frank did a great job using his size to establish a presence in the post,” head coach Todd Neighbors said. “And we got tremendous help off the bench after Mike (Myers) got in first-half foul trouble. Victor Mbachu played extremely well in both scoring and distributing the ball.”’

AC trailed 37-30 after one half, but outscored the Rebels by 21 points in the second. Five Roadrunners accounted for six three points in a three-minute span to boost AC to its seventh straight win to open the season.

The Roadrunners will take on Temple College on Friday.
