1/23/2010 - Panola 81, Roadrunners 71

Takoby Jackson’s season-high 34 points weren’t enough to help the Roadrunners past the Ponies, with AC falling 81-71 Saturday in Carthage.

Antonio Holmes’ 10 points marked the only other Roadrunner to reach double figures, testament to AC’s offensive struggles throughout the game. The ‘Runner front line combined for just 14 points spread among four players totaling more than 90 minutes of action.

Panola got 20 points from Raschard Boatner, 17 from Broc Wills and 12 from Louis Ellis in notching just its second win in Region XIV play. The Ponies built a double-digit lead in the first half, withstood AC’s run just before the break, and went on to coast the rest of the way in handing the ‘Runners their third loss in conference.

Jackson tallied 18 of his 34 in the first half, and finished the game 12-of-18 from the field and 8-of-11 from three-point range. For the season, the sophomore is averaging 16.1 points per game, with seven of his games topping the 20-point mark.

The Roadrunners (12-8, 7-3) will host Navarro Wednesday at Shands Gym in Lufkin. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
