FINE ARTS DIVISION ANNOUNCES 2009-2010 SEASONThe Angelina College Fine Arts Division has released its schedule of performances for the upcoming 2009-2010 arts season, continuing its tradition of offering arts presentations for every taste. Each gallery will host an artist’s reception from 6-7:30 p.m. the first Tuesday evening of the exhibition’s opening. Devotees of stage productions will love the number of scheduled performances including Sylvia, by A. R. Gurney, a modern romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog (Oct. 15th-17th, Temple Theater); The Snow Queen and the Goblin, adapted from the Hans Christian Andersen story by Martha Bennett King and suitable for all ages (Dec. 3rd and 4th); Misery by Stephen King; adapted for the stage by Simon Moore (Feb. 18th -20th, Temple Theater); Outrageous Theatre, in the spirit of Reefer Madness, Division Street, and Plays in Ten (April 22nd—24th, AC Theater Lab). Finally, music lovers will be able to choose from numerous performances as well, including the AC Faculty Recital “Synesthesia II: Merging Sight and Sound” featuring pianist Dr. Karen McBee and artist Robbie Roach (Sept. 29, Temple Theater); the AC Concert Band/Lufkin Community Band and AC Swinging Roadrunner Jazz Combo Concert (Oct. 27, Temple Theater); the AC Swinging Roadrunner Jazz Band and ACC Big Band Fall Concert (Nov. 19th, Hudgins Hall Auditorium); A Christmas Celebration with the AC Chorale and AC Concert Band/Lufkin Community Band(Dec. 6th, Temple Theater); Christmas at the Keyboard (Dec. 8th); the AC Singers’ “Showtime! 2010” performance (March 6th and 7th, Temple Theater); the AC Swinging Roadrunner Jazz Band/ACC Big Band Spring Concert (March 25th, Hudgins Hall); the Teacher’s Choice Piano Recital (Mar. 28th, Temple Theater); the AC Chorale Spring Concert (Apr. 18th, Hudgins Hall Auditorium); An Afternoon of Concert Band Classics by the Lufkin Community Concert Band (April 25th, Temple Theater); the Piney Woods Jazz Festival Concert featuring the Swinging Roadrunner Jazz Band, the ACC Big Band and a guest clinician (April 30th, Hudgins Hall); and the Piney Woods Jazz Camp for high school and junior high school students (May 1st, Hudgins Hall). |
