Angelina College Hosting Teacher’s Choice Piano Recital

Some of the area’s most talented young musicians will gather onstage Sunday, April 1st for the annual Teacher’s Choice Piano recital held in the Temple Theater on the Angelina College campus.

Featuring students chosen by local instructors Julie Bartel, Rosemary Swetland Berry, Kathy Collins, Bonnie Dowdy and Shelby Harrison, the recital offers performances in genres ranging from classical to contemporary piano music.

Scheduled pieces and performers include the following:

“Grandpa’s House” (Martin) performed by Riley Fisher; “Come Christians, Join to Sing” (Bateman) performed by Kylie Green; “The Carol of the Bells” (Leontrovich) performed by Jilene Bartel; “Joyful, Joyful” (Beethoven) performed by Jenna Hughes; “Snake Dance” (Schaum) performed by Skylar King; “For the Beauty of the Earth” (Kocher) performed by Mehriel Gatus; “Canon” (Faber) performed by Kristina Johnson; “Misty” (Faber) performed by Christina Hernandez; “The Music of the Night” (Webber) performed by Chandler Merrell; “Etude in G Minor, Op. 47, No. 14” (Heller) performed by Monica Vegiraju; “Majesty” (Hayford) performed by Diana Dunman; “Faded Dreams” (Mier) performed by Jessica Todd; and “Bagatelle, Op. 5, No. 1” (Tcherepnin) performed by David Clark.

The performance begins at 2:30 p.m. There is no admission charge.
