The Educator in the Workplace 2003 project was held during the week of June 14-18, 2004. The project was sponsored by the Deep East Texas College Tech Prep Partnership and the Business of Education Partnership. Funding was provided by the College Tech Prep Partnership.
The educator in the Workplace program provides educators with a realistic understanding of the relationship between a student's academic achievement and the student's future personal and economic success.The Externship Experience is an experience outside the parameters of one's own domain. The project allows educators to spend a period of time at a worksite and provides the experience of exploring and learning about the workplace and the community at large. The externships provide educators with the opportunity to incorporate the experiences gained in the workplace with academic instruction activities.
A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU is extended to all the businesses and employers that provided opportunities for the educators to be in their workplace. Without them, this project could not have happened.
Monday - Educators met at the Angelina College Community Service Conference Center for orientation to the project and review of the work place expectations.
Tuesday - Educators reported to their assigned work place(s).
Wednesday - Educators reported to their assigned work place(s).
Thursday - The educators met at the Angelina College Community Service Conference Center and reported on their work place experiences. A report was given on each business/employer that participated and additional reporting was made by career concentration groups. Educators also had an opportunity to meet with their school team and start the planning process for their individual and team lesson plans.
Friday - Educators met as a team to complete the individual and team integrated lesson plans/curriculum.Educator in the Workplace 2004
