AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY
The increased complexity of motor vehicles has brought about new demands for service
personnel with a very high level of technical knowledge and skill. The Automotive
Technology curriculum prepares the graduate for entry-level employment in vehicle
diagnosis and maintenance work.


Basic vehicle theory and principles are taught in the classroom to give the student an understanding of how mechanical components function and why they fail. Actual shop practices
are simulated to train the student to utilize appropriate safety procedures, show how to
make repairs, diagnose, replace and adjust components.


The Automotive Technology program does not offer the student an option in the length of
time taken to complete the Certificate. Students will be admitted to this program in the fall
semester only.

The program has limited enrollment to the first twelve applicants to meet
the following criteria:

Admission Criteria - Automotive Technology
The student must:
1. Gain admission by application and acceptance to Angelina College.
2. Be assessed for basic skills by Accuplacer or THEA.
3. Agree to enroll in developmental courses in all areas that were not acceptable by
assessment.
4. Obtain an application packet for Automotive Technology, available from
Technology and Workforce Division.
5. Attend the scheduled information session. Contact the Division Office at (936)

6. Submit the completed application packet by the designated date to the Auto
