DIESEL TECHNOLOGY

Diesel mechanics repair and maintain diesel engines that power transportation equipment, such as heavy trucks, buses, and locomotives; construction equipment such as bulldozers; cranes and road graders; and farm equipment such as tractors and combines; electric generators, compressors and pumps used in oil well drilling and in irrigation.

Diesel mechanics are employed by equipment dealers, leasing companies, independent automotive repair shops, local and long-distance trucking companies, public transit companies, school systems, and Federal, State and local governing boards.
