The drafter is a technician who correlates work between the design and production departments of industry. The drafter’s chief function is to prepare working drawings from sketches, written specifications, or field notes furnished by an engineer. The drawings will enable operatives to produce a finished manufactured product or complete a construction project. This program provides both manual and computer-aided drafting experience supplemented with related technical information. The graduate will be qualified for entry-level technician positions in drafting. In Texas, the average annual salary for drafters is more than $50,000.
