Drafting and Design Technology

The drafter is a technician who correlates work between the design and production departments of industry. The drafter’s chief function is to prepare working drawings from sketches, written specifications, or field notes furnished by an engineer. The drawings will enable operatives to produce a finished manufactured product or complete a construction project. This program provides both manual and computer-aided drafting experience supplemented with related technical information. The graduate will be qualified for entry-level technician positions in drafting. In Texas, the average annual salary for drafters is more than $50,000

Drafting and Design Technology Level 1 Certificate

The Drafting and Design Technology Level 1 certificate is part of the Drafting and Design Technology program at Angelina College.

  • Prerequisites to enter the program as a Level 1 certificate major include a high school diploma or GED. Entrance testing is not required.
  • Students who do not have a high school diploma or GED may co-enroll as Level 1 certificate students and GED students through Adult Education and Literacy at Angelina College (936-633-4525).
  • Students who have a high school diploma or GED may also enter the program as associate degree (AAS) students. TSI entrance scores are required.
