Angelina College Auto Technology Course Receives Toyota Equipment Donations
AC News Service
As automotive technology continues to evolve at a rapid rate, so does the need for updated equipment for training.
Loving Toyota of Lufkin recognizes the need and has come through in a big way.
Loving recently donated nearly 130 items to the Angelina College Automotive Technology program to provide AC students with more modernized versions of standard auto equipment.
According to AC program instructor Mark Yarnall, those items included automatic transmissions, along with wheels of various sizes for “practice in mounting and balancing tires.” Also included were several differentials, an electric power steering rack and pinion, transfer assemblies from all-wheel drive vehicles and miscellaneous engine, brake and drive train parts.
Yarnall said Loving Toyota sent him a spreadsheet with a list of items from which he could choose the most essential equipment for course training.
“These items will be passed around the classroom as we cover the different topics or used for lab tasks to reinforce the information learned in the classroom,” Yarnall said. “These items allow me to highlight more modern technology featured on current vehicles.”
The Automotive Technology program at AC offers training for such careers at automotive technicians, automotive service technicians and automotive service advisors.
