Purpose

Angelina College is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive online experience for all users, including individuals with disabilities. We work to ensure that content on angelina.edu aligns with applicable federal and state accessibility requirements.

Standards We Follow

Angelina College follows the guidelines and legal requirements established by:

• Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA
• Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
• Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title II

These standards guide how we structure content, use color, design navigation, provide alternative text, and ensure our website is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users.

Ongoing Accessibility Efforts

Our accessibility work includes:

• Reviewing and updating page structure and heading hierarchy
• Ensuring color contrast meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements
• Adding accurate and meaningful alternative text to images
• Providing descriptive link text and clear button labels
• Reducing reliance on PDFs and requiring uploaded documents to meet accessibility standards
• Improving keyboard navigation and screen-reader compatibility
• Monitoring accessibility through manual review and automated evaluation tools

Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

Angelina College uses automated accessibility evaluation tools, including Silktide, to regularly scan and identify potential accessibility issues across our public website. These tools help prioritize remediation efforts but do not replace manual review or accessible content practices.

Accessibility is addressed through ongoing monitoring, content review, staff guidance, and remediation efforts aligned with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
