Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)

At Angelina College, we want every new student to start strong and stay on track. That’s why we created our Quality Enhancement Plan, ROAD to Success: Reaching Our Academic Destination — a five-year project focused on helping first-time-in-college (FTIC) students explore careers, plan their degrees, and use campus support services early.

This project is part of a larger accreditation process with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). But for students, the important part is simple: ROAD to Success is about giving you the tools, confidence, and connections to reach your goals at AC and beyond.

The Angelina College QEP is

ROAD to Success: Reaching Our Academic Destination

Purpose & Goals

The purpose of Angelina College’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), ROAD to Success, is to support first-time-in-college (FTIC) students by strengthening their start and guiding them toward completion.

This is achieved through the redesigned first-year experience course, STSU 0300, where students will:

  • Explore career options and academic pathways to connect interests with programs.
  • Develop a personalized My Academic Plan (MAP) to stay on track term by term.
  • Build help-seeking skills and use campus resources early, including tutoring, advising, financial aid, and wellness services.
  • Form connections with faculty and programs to increase belonging and persistence.

By focusing on these areas, ROAD to Success aims to improve student retention, build degree momentum, and increase overall completion rates.

Outcomes

The QEP is designed to achieve two student learning outcomes (SLO) and two student success outcomes (SSO):

SEEK

SLO1:

Enhance FTIC students’ help-seeking behaviors and self-efficacy regarding the use of campus support services

PLAN

SLO2:

FTIC Students will develop individualized academic plans aligned with explored career pathways

RETENTION

SSO1:

Increase year-one to year-two retention rates for FTIC students

MOMENTUM

SSO2:

Increase degree momentum by supporting FTIC students in completing an appropriate number of semester credit hours (SCH) during their first academic year

Implementation Timeline

ROAD to Success is being implemented in phases to ensure quality, feedback, and continuous improvement.

PILOT YEAR (2024-2025)

Redesigned STSU 0300 was tested with students. Feedback from faculty, staff, and students informed curriculum revisions.

YEAR 1 LAUNCH (FALL 2025)

Full rollout of pathway-specific STSU 0300 sections. Instructors receive training and support to ensure effective delivery.

  • October 20-23, 2025: On-Site SACSCOC Reaffirmation Visit

YEARS 2-5 (2026–2030)

Annual data collection, feedback, and revisions. Ongoing assessment of outcomes and adjustments to improve student success.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

The QEP Implementation Committee reviews results each year and makes adjustments to strengthen retention, degree momentum, and completion rates.
