Career Exploration & Development

Business Partner Program

Become a member of the Career Exploration & Development Business Partner Program. Your membership provides options to promote your organization, engage with our students, design and implement special events, and gain recognition as a Business Partner.

The membership lasts for a full year from January 1 through December 31 and the cost is tax deductible. The Career Exploration & Development team will ensure your benefits are being used most effectively. We appreciate our Business Partners’s commitment to the career development growth of Angelina College students and helping us prepare them for the workplace!

Skills for Small Business Program

Are you a small business in need of funds to support training for new workers or to help upgrade the skills of incumbent workers?

The Texas Workforce Commission’s (TWC) Skills for Small Business program supports Texas businesses with fewer than 100 employees with their training needs.

  • Targeted to businesses with less than 100 employees
  • The program pays up to $1,800 for each new full-time employee being trained and $900 for existing full-time employees per 12-month period.
  • Training must be selected from active course catalogs/schedules—credit and continuing education. No third-party vendor training is allowed.
  • All training must be provided by a public community or technical college, or TEEX.

Skills Development Fund

Are you a business in need of funds to support training for new workers or to help upgrade the skills of incumbent workers?

The Texas Workforce Commission’s (TWC) Skills Development Fund program supports Texas businesses  with their training needs.

  • Targeted to businesses without a restriction on the number employees
  • The program pays up to $2,000 for each full-time employee being trained.
  • Both technical and non-technical training can be included in the grant
  • Training can be facilitated by Angelina College, 3rd party vendor, or by internal company employees
  • Training can be customized to meet the specific needs of the business
  • Training budget is limited to $500,000

Funding Eligibility requirements

  • Be a private for profit or private non-profit business.
  • Be liable to pay Unemployment Insurance and in compliance with the reporting and payment requirement.
  • Pay your employees the prevailing wages in the local labor market for employees receiving training.
  • Additional eligibility requirements may apply
