LUFKIN, TX — Angelina College will participate in a statewide emergency alert system drill on April 2, 2026, as part of a coordinated effort led by the Texas Division of Emergency Management to enhance public safety and emergency preparedness across Texas.
The drill will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. CST and will involve testing multiple emergency communication platforms, including text alerts, email notifications, website messaging, and social media.
This exercise is conducted in accordance with Chapter 418 of the Texas Government Code, which establishes standards for emergency management planning and coordination across the state.
“This drill provides an important opportunity to ensure our emergency communication systems are functioning effectively and that we are prepared to quickly and clearly communicate with our campus community in the event of an emergency,” said Krista Brown, Vice President of Student Services at Angelina College. “The safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community remains our top priority.”
During the testing window, students, employees, and community members may receive multiple notifications. All messages will clearly indicate that the alert is only a test and that no emergency is occurring.
The purpose of the drill is to confirm system functionality, strengthen coordination with local and state emergency partners, and help individuals become familiar with receiving emergency notifications.
Angelina College encourages all members of the community to take this opportunity to review their personal emergency plans and ensure their contact information is up to date in the College’s alert systems.
Following the drill, the College will evaluate system performance and identify any opportunities for improvement as part of its ongoing commitment to safety and preparedness.
