At Angelina College, we want every new student to start strong and stay on track. That’s why we created our Quality Enhancement Plan, ROAD to Success: Reaching Our Academic Destination — a five-year project focused on helping first-time-in-college (FTIC) students explore careers, plan their degrees, and use campus support services early.
This project is part of a larger accreditation process with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). But for students, the important part is simple: ROAD to Success is about giving you the tools, confidence, and connections to reach your goals at AC and beyond.

The purpose of Angelina College’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), ROAD to Success, is to support first-time-in-college (FTIC) students by strengthening their start and guiding them toward completion.
By focusing on these areas, ROAD to Success aims to improve student retention, build degree momentum, and increase overall completion rates.
The QEP is designed to achieve two student learning outcomes (SLO) and two student success outcomes (SSO):

SLO1:
Enhance FTIC students’ help-seeking behaviors and self-efficacy regarding the use of campus support services

SLO2:
FTIC Students will develop individualized academic plans aligned with explored career pathways

SSO1:
Increase year-one to year-two retention rates for FTIC students

SSO2:
Increase degree momentum by supporting FTIC students in completing an appropriate number of semester credit hours (SCH) during their first academic year
ROAD to Success is being implemented in phases to ensure quality, feedback, and continuous improvement.
Redesigned STSU 0300 was tested with students. Feedback from faculty, staff, and students informed curriculum revisions.
Full rollout of pathway-specific STSU 0300 sections. Instructors receive training and support to ensure effective delivery.
Annual data collection, feedback, and revisions. Ongoing assessment of outcomes and adjustments to improve student success.
The QEP Implementation Committee reviews results each year and makes adjustments to strengthen retention, degree momentum, and completion rates.

Implementation is supported by leadership and several committees and designated personnel across the College. Refer to the full QEP report for leadership, committee membership and responsibilities.
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a five year long project that Angelina College must do as a member of SACSCOC. Angelina College must develop, support, implement, measure, and complete as part of the reaffirmation of accreditation.
The purpose of the QEP, ROAD to Success, is to help students develop a career goal, select an academic pathway, and improve help-seeking behavior towards campus support services. All are designed to improve student retention and time to completion of their degree.
The QEP title is “ROAD to Success: Reaching Our Academic Destination”.
The QEP topic was selected through a rigorous process that involved analysis of institutional data related to retention, graduation, and success rates. Surveys of students, faculty, and staff narrowed the QEP topic to focus on helping students explore career options, find an academic pathway to help them achieve their career goals, and bring awareness to campus support services.
The QEP, ROAD to Success, uses a first-year experience course called STSU 0300 to engage students in career exploration, developing an individualized My Academic Plan (MAP), and improving help-seeking behavior to campus support services. All are designed to improve retention and time to completion of their degree.
In the course titled “STSU 0300”, students will complete modules related to exploring campus support services, career exploration, and degree planning. Making connections with support services like the Tutoring Center, career-based assignments, and development of a full degree plan are among the activities within the course.
The QEP is designed to achieve two student learning outcomes (SLO) and two student success outcomes (SSO);
SLO 1: Enhance FTIC students’ help-seeking behaviors and self-efficacy regarding the use of campus support services.
SLO 2: FTIC Students will develop individualized academic plans aligned with explored career pathways
SSO 1: Increase year-one to year-two retention rates for FTIC students
SSO 2: Increase degree momentum by supporting FTIC students in completing an appropriate number of semester credit hours (SCH) during their first academic year (24 SCH for full-time and 12 SCH for part-time)
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a five (5) year long project Angelina College must do as members of SACSCOC. AC must develop, support, implement, measure, and complete as apart of the reaffirmation of accreditation.
The college has developed a comprehensive assessment plan, which will measure the success of both student learning and student success outcomes. Annual data analysis and student/faculty/staff feedback will guide continuous improvement each year of the project.
