Pinning Ceremony Honors Students

The Angelina College School of Health Careers recently held a “Pinning Ceremony” honoring its new graduates of the Surgical Technology program.
Eight students received their pins from friends or family members in a ceremony held on the AC campus.
Class president Samantha Nielson spoke to her fellow graduates and the audience. Other speakers included Dr. Winifred Ferguson-Adams, Dean, School of Health Careers; Krista Brown, Vice President of Student Services; Stefanie Vaughn, Program Director of Surgical Technology; and Donta Davis, Clinical Coordinator/Lab Instructor.
Students receiving Excellence Awards included Guadalupe Granados and Haylee Hornbuckle.
Following is the list of graduates, including their listed home towns:
Stephanie Beltran (Lufkin), Priscilla Castillo (Nacogdoches), Diana Cuellar (Lufkin), Guadalupe Granados (Lufkin), Haylee Hornbuckle (Nacogdoches), Haithe Garcia (Nacogdoches), Samantha Nielson (Nacogdoches) and Kachina Simmons (Hemphill).
In addition, the college issued “Preceptor” awards to the following individuals (listed with their clinical affiliate):
Leonardo Aguilar, CHI St. Luke’s Lufkin; Yackie Arellano, CHI St. Luke’s Lufkin; Tiffanie Buffington, Nacogdoches Medical Center; Yulie Valdez, Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital; Briley Carter, Surgery Center of Nacogdoches; Amanda Sosa, Woodland Heights Medical Center; and Teresa Lucas, Lehmann Eye Center.
