Dollar General Literacy Foundation Awards Funding to Support Adult Literacy, ESL, and College Readiness Programs
LUFKIN, Texas — Angelina College is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation in support of its Academic Readiness Program. The grant will directly benefit adult learners in the community by funding instructional materials, classroom supplies, and technology resources essential to adult literacy, English as a Second Language (ESL), and college readiness instruction.
The funding will be used to purchase a wide range of instructional and classroom supplies over the 12-month grant period. Resources will include ESL and college readiness textbooks and workbooks, printed handouts, and instructor-developed materials. Student learning supplies will ensure participants have consistent access to the tools needed for instruction and practice.
Grant funds may also be applied to technology-related instructional supplies, including headphones, computer accessories, and digital literacy resources. These tools will help adult learners build foundational technology skills that are increasingly essential for academic achievement and workforce success. Assessment tools and testing supplies will also be purchased to measure student progress and learning outcomes throughout the program.
“This grant will have a meaningful impact on adult learners in our community by helping remove barriers to education and providing access to critical learning resources. Through our Academic Readiness Program, we are committed to empowering students with the literacy, language, technology, and college readiness skills needed to achieve their personal, educational, and workforce goals.”
