The Basic Structural Firefighter program is physically demanding as well as academically challenging. The Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) strongly recommends that all students be able to read and comprehend at least a 10th-grade reading level to complete this fast-paced academic program. This should be a crucial determining factor in your decision to apply for the Fire Academy. Additional information to become a firefighter is located on the Texas Commission on Fire Protection website.
