$15,000 Gift Strengthens Workforce Development in Deep East Texas
LUFKIN, Texas — Angelina College is proud to announce it has once again received a $15,000 contribution from Georgia-Pacific to support student success in the College’s Electromechanical Technology program.
The contribution will be used to purchase advanced training equipment, tools, and instructional supplies that provide students with hands-on experience using industry-standard technology. The funding supports instruction in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial motor controls, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and AC/DC drives.
“Georgia-Pacific has been a valued partner of Angelina College for many years, and we are grateful for their continued investment in our students and our region,” Dr. Michael Simon, president of Angelina College, said. “Their support helps ensure our students receive the training and experience necessary to meet the evolving needs of today’s workforce.”
“For decades, Georgia-Pacific has relied on a talented and well-trained workforce, and that starts with strong educational partnerships,” Yana Ogletree, Georgia-Pacific Public & Government Affairs Manager, said. “Our long-standing relationship with Angelina College reflects our commitment to investing in the next generation of skilled professionals.”
The Electromechanical Technology program prepares students for careers in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, automation, and related technical fields. By providing access to modern equipment and technology, the contribution helps students develop the skills employers need throughout Deep East Texas and beyond.
Jeremy Sanches, lead instructor of Electromechanical Technology, said the contribution directly enhances student learning by strengthening the program’s training resources and expanding opportunities for hands-on instruction.
“Georgia-Pacific’s ongoing support allows us to continually improve the educational experience for our students,” Sanches said. “Investments like this help us provide relevant, industry-focused training that prepares graduates to enter the workforce with confidence and the technical skills needed to succeed.”
The contribution reflects the shared commitment of Angelina College and Georgia-Pacific to workforce development and the economic vitality of the region.
