Roadrunners Show Out in July Basketball Showcases

Several Angelina College basketball players spent July showing up and showing out at various national showcases highlighting junior college athletes.
Returning AC player Qasim Boyd, along with incoming transfers Didi Zanguim, Gerron Graham, Taj Petteway, Cam’Ron Myers and Amari Edwards participated as representatives of the Angelina College program.
Zanguim, Graham and Petteway played in the JUCO All-American Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia earlier in July. All three were listed among the Top 50 JUCO players for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Zanguim and Petteway also participated in the JA48 Showcase sponsored by Puma and held in Richmond, Virginia. That event featured the top 48 players in junior college basketball.
In addition, Boyd, Myers, Edwards and Petteway were on-hand for the P32 Showcase in Memphis during the July 18-19 weekend.
Boyd, who missed the 2025-2026 season because of injury, was a member of the Roadrunners’ squad that competed in the 2026 National Tournament in Hutchinson, where the team finished among the Elite Eight. The 5’11” guard from Dickinson earned praise from scouts at the P32 Showcase.
“Boyd’s poise, decision-making, and ability to run an offense stood out throughout the event in front of college coaches,” one scout posted.
Petteway, a 6’6” combo guard from Galveston, transferred to AC from Coastal Bend Community College after averaging 14.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while earning Region XIV Honorable Mention All-Region honors in 2025-2026.
Zanguim, a 6’10” forward from Houston who transferred from Trinity Valley Community College, sports a 7’5” wingspan. Zanguim averaged 3.5 rebounds and a block per game in 2025-2026.
Graham, a 6’2” guard from Tucson, Arizona, transferred to AC from Pima Community College in Tucson. Graham shot 40 percent from three-point range in 2025-2026.
Myers is a 6”4” combo guard who transferred to Angelina College from Pitt Community College, where he averaged 19 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while shooting 38 percent from the three-point line.
Edwards, a 5”10” point guard from Chicago and a transfer from Paris Community College, averaged 12 points per game, finishing as the top three-point shooter in Region XIV conference play in 2025-2026.
The 2026-2027 Roadrunners begin the scrimmage portion of their new season in early October, with the first regular-season game set for Tuesday, Nov. 2 at Shands Gymnasium against Strength ‘N Motion.
