Angelina College head women’s basketball coach Addie Lees and assistant Mercedes Corona made clear their expectations for players from the moment the staff first set foot on the AC campus:
Give your best both on the floor and in the classroom.
Those expectations paid off with the recent news that the Lady Roadrunner team, along with several individuals, have landed on the National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) All-Academic list following the 2025-2026 season, becoming the first team in AC women’s basketball history to earn the honor.
The Lady ‘Runner team finished with a cumulative grade point average of 3.35. Individuals earning honors, along with their home towns of record, included the following:
First Team All-Academic Honors (4.0 GPA): Evalynn Rodriguez (Lubbock).
Second Team All-Academic Honors (3.8-3.99 GPA): Aminah Dixon (Houston) and Ja’Kaila Lee (Spring).
Third Team All-Academic Honors (3.60-3.79 GPA): Katherine Martinez (Houston) and Timberlyn Washington (Clarence, LA).
Lees praised her team’s commitment to academic excellence.
“When I took over the program, I wanted to raise the bar academically across the board,” Lees said. “Although our team faced many challenges and obstacles, they remained focused on the pursuit of academic excellence.
“The team’s goal was to be an NJCAA All-Academic Team. This recognition speaks volumes of our student-athletes and their dedication in the classroom. I appreciate our staff and student-athletes for establishing a strong foundation of academic success for our future Roadrunners.”
The Lady Roadrunners tip off their 2026-2027 season in October.
