History
In 2016, Angelina County stakeholders identified the growing needs of nonprofits in rural East Texas. Historically supported by ample resources, donors, and volunteers, the region faced new challenges with aging leadership, cultural shifts, and increased competition for resources. Donors began demanding better nonprofit management in finance, human resources, technology, accountability, and effectiveness.
To stay competitive, stakeholders realized that rural East Texas nonprofits required education and training in leadership and best practices. While passion and hard work remained important, formal training became essential for survival and growth. This led to the timely establishment of the Angelina College Nonprofit Leadership Center (NPLC).
