AC at SFA Undergraduate Research Conference

AC Students Represent at SFA Research Conference

Kolby White proudly represented Angelina College at the SFA Undergraduate Research Conference, held on April 15, sharing his personal experience and research on living with a rare disorder. His presentation, part of a rare disease research project led by instructor Benetha Jackson, highlighted both his academic journey and the power of personal stories in scientific exploration.

Although Sam Hardy couldn’t attend in person, her research poster was proudly displayed at the event, contributing to AC’s strong presence. Both Kolby and Sam’s work showcase the dedication of AC students to project-based learning and real-world research, furthering AC’s goal to encourage innovation and academic growth.

With the support of emerging AI research tools like Perplexity, Kolby and other students are hopeful that breakthroughs in rare disease research will lead to better treatments and even cures in the future.

AC Students Selected to Present at SFA Undergraduate Research Conference

(March 2025)

Three Angelina College students have earned the prestigious opportunity to present their research posters at the 2025 Stephen F. Austin State University Undergraduate Research Conference. Sam Hardy, Kolby White, and Kristi Williams will represent AC alongside students from across the region, showcasing original research rooted in both academic inquiry and personal experience.

The students’ posters were developed as part of a rare disease research project in a course led by instructor Benetha Jackson. The project is part of Angelina College’s growing emphasis on project-based learning, an initiative spearheaded by Dr. Andrea Barrett. For one of the students, the research is especially meaningful, as it focuses on a rare disease they have personally been diagnosed with.

The SFA conference, which includes a formal lunch and additional academic sessions, is scheduled for April, 15, 2025. Stay tuned for updates on our participating students.
