Receive Graduation Approval

Commencement Participants:
Watch for an email from the Registrar confirming your graduation approval and providing details about the May Commencement ceremony.

For Summer and Fall Graduates (and others not participating in Commencement):
You will receive an email from the Registrar with your graduation approval and instructions on how to receive your diploma.

Graduation vs Commencement

Graduating and participating in commencement are distinct activities.

  • “Graduation” is defined as a student receiving a degree or certificate.
  • “Commencement” is the ceremony held in the spring of each academic year.

ALL students who wish to graduate and receive a degree from Angelina College MUST complete the graduation application below. If a student chooses not to participate in the commencement ceremony, they do not need to fill out any additional forms.

Once accepted for graduation, students will receive an email invitation to participate in the commencement ceremony. Students must follow the instructions in the email to be included in the commencement ceremony.

PLEASE NOTE: 

  • In rare circumstances, exceptions for commencement participation may be made with permission from the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Additionally, students who have moved on to another institution upon completion of 30 credit hours or more and have been identified as completing a degree, may be awarded a reverse transfer degree. Regardless, graduation is only official once the student completes all required coursework and the Registrar confirms their status. After that, degrees, honors, diplomas, or certificates are awarded.

STEP 1: Apply to Graduate

During your final semester, apply to graduate by filling out the online Application for Graduation found on the AC Portal>Student Tab>Student Forms page. 

Application Submissions Periods
  • Fall: September 15 – November 1
  • Spring: February 1 – March 15
  • Summer Early Approval (to have name in commencement program): February 1 – March 15
  • Summer: May 15 – July 1

A student may meet the degree requirements as outlined in the current catalog at the time of first admission or as outlined in any subsequent catalog published before the date of graduation, provided the student meets the degree requirements not later than five years from the date of the catalog selected. The College confers degrees in December, May, and August of each academic year.

STEP 2: Receive Approval & *Commencement Invitation

Degree evaluations can take 2 – 4 weeks to process.  Once a student’s degree evaluation is complete, they will receive an email notification from the Registrar (scox@angelina.edu) regarding approval or denial. This email will be sent to the student’s AC email address.

*During the Spring, an invitation to participate in Commencement will be included in the approval email.

Diplomas and Certificates:

Graduates will receive a digital diploma/certificate to complement the printed copy that will be mailed.

An email and text notification (when applicable) with instructions on how to claim your digital diploma will be sent to the student.

Students should follow these simple steps:

  • Check personal email and text messages for the award notification.
  • Follow the link to set up a Parchment digital credentials account.
  • Share their digital diploma on social media.

The printed diploma/certificate will be mailed to the address provided on the graduation application within four weeks of the completion of the semester.

STEP 3: RSVP for Commencement & Order Regalia

After a student has been approved for graduation, they must RSVP or decline to participate (walk the stage) in commencement and order regalia if participating. There are two forms to submit.

  • RSVP form: Approved students will receive an invitation for commencement and MUST indicate whether or not they will participate. Even if the student chooses NOT to attend, the form must still be completed with “No.”
    • Deadline: April 18, 2025
    • Commencement RSVP FORM (in approval email)
  • Regalia Orders: Student only need to order regalia if they answered “Yes” to participate in commencement. If not, this is not required. 
    • The deadline to order the correct regalia and RSVP to walk in commencement is Friday, April 18th, 2025 at 5 P.M. The form will automatically close at that time, and you will not be able to participate in commencement if your form is not submitted.

STEP 4: Commencement Ceremony

Diplomas & Transcripts

Diplomas:
Angelina College will issue a digital diploma within five days after the conferral of degrees or certificates.  Students will receive an email and/or text notification from Parchment.com with instructions on how to electronically claim their diploma.  Please note that this email is sent to the student’s personal email address – not the school email –  so it’s important to ensure that it is up to date with the admissions office. Upon claiming the diploma, the student will be prompted to verify their name and address for the printed diploma, which will be issued within 30 days after graduation.
 
Transcripts:

Official Transcripts are available within 48 hours of the end of the semester. You can request to have your transcripts sent to transfer institutions before grades are posted and they will be delivered once the term is over.
